Lewis Anderson has for some time been one of Music Row’s
leading and most respected writers. Along with three recent hot chart
singles (I Want To Know by Mark
Wills, Lost In The Feeling by Mark Chesnutt, and Steam
by Ty Herndon), he has won multiple BMI awards, an NSAI song
award, an NSAI President’s award, and the coveted BMI
Songwriter of the Year. |
Lewis’ songs have been recorded through the years by a diverse
group of artists both in country and pop. He is known for crafting songs
with compelling, memorable melodies, some of which poignantly examine
life. Though he often co-writes, it is his ability to successfully write
a great song alone that makes him all the more unique these days in
Nashville. Besides his current hits, some of Lewis’ other well-known
titles include Whatever Happened To Old Fashioned Love, Midnight
Fire, Will It Be Love By Morning, Somewhere Down The
Line and You
Turn The Light On.
In addition to his songwriting accomplishments, Lewis served for five
years as A&R consultant to MCA Records Nashville for noted producer
Tony Brown. He also opened the first office for the Chrysalis Music
Group, Inc. A strong advocate for songwriter’s rights, he served on
the board of the NSAI for nine years and was integral to the changes
that modernized and vitalized the organization.
Lewis began his musical career in his home state of Louisiana, where
he began at the age of 16 playing clubs, fraternities, and concerts from
Florida to Oklahoma in various bands, the most notable being Swampfox.
He moved at age 21 to Los Angeles and soon had his first major
recordings. A longtime pro in Nashville, he continues to have a very
successful career.
